Hi,
I have recently been asked to develop a discussion document on "Intranet
Governance" we have been developing our Window SharePoint version for
close to two years and its been available in varying degrees as a
information tool (documents, library, procedures, photos, blogs etc) to
a variety of groups intentionally and unintentionally, we have not
closed security completely but at the same time it's not been
publicized.
We will be going through an exercise to convert the existing content for
a new platform etc etc, I have been asked to develop a governance
document In support of launching the site formally on the new platform,
anyone got some ideas on content that should be included in the
document, thinking about the following (no particular order) as a start
point, suggestions welcome.
1. Ownership and Accountability (content approval processes, business
unit content owners)
2. Security
3. Support Mechanism
4. Branding and how fonts, images are to be used within intranet
5. Review Time Frame (surveys, ownership)
6. Participation (emphasis that the intranet will only be successful if
the organization as a whole participates and uses the tool).

Aaron, Online there's a growing amount of guidance and suggestions around planning SharePoint governance. You might like to check out these resources if you need further ideas: * SharePoint Governance site - http://www.sharepointgovernance.org/default.aspx * Key governance considerations in a SharePoint Deployment by Joel Oleson - http://blogs.msdn.com/joelo/archive/2006/08/23/715068.aspx * SharePoint Collaboration Governance Plan - http://www.sharepointjoel.com/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?List=0cd1a63d%2D183c%2D4fc2%2D8320%2Dba5369008acb&ID=194 * SharePoint governance tools (more application than plans and guidance, but useful to know about all the same!) - http://governance.codeplex.com/ Do have a look at articles and guidance documents written by Joel Oleson - he is a bit of a "leading light" in the area of SharePoint governance. Hope that helps, Gary
